3d-Radar Wins Significant Contract with a US Army Agency!
May 5, 2009 – Trondheim, Norway
3d-Radar has received a contract from a US Army agency for supplying its unique ground penetrating radar technology. Under the terms of the agreement, 3d-Radar’s innovative step frequency antenna and GeoScope processing solutions are provided to the military.
“This is ground-breaking news and marks a milestone for 3d-Radar as our technology is adapted for use by the US Army. Our technology is well suited for the detection of buried objects like unexploded ordinance (UXO) that the US Army is interested in locating.” says Dr Egil Eide, Managing Director of 3d-Radar. Keys to winning this contract were not only 3d-Radar’s innovative technology, but also the company’s willingness to enhance the product by accelerating development to address needs of interest to the US Army
One such enhancement is the real-time view incorporated into the GeoScope. This optional enhancement enables operators to view post-processed GPR data within milliseconds of the initial GPR capture. The real-time view has been integrated with detection algorithms developed by Exponent, Inc. and provided to the Army. Dr Eide continues, “Giving the operator the ability to make decisions in real-time based on identified imagery is a significant breakthrough and opens several new markets to 3d-Radar.”
